Pat had a distribution business that was struggling. The business was started almost 10 years earlier. At first the business had grown nicely. The original team worked well together, though some of them have left.

However, growth slowed and then stalled. Profits were not strong considering the size of the company. But more importantly the people situation was not working well.

New people would be recruited to the company by Pat's vision and personality. However, after a year or two, their performance would trail off. Most would leave within a few years. Perhaps worse were the ones that stayed but did not perform.

After working with Pat and her company, we were able to transform the work environment for everyone. The employees were generally skeptical at first, but after about six months, most of them had come around. A couple were let go - though not the ones Pat had expected!

After the transformation, the business was a much better place to work for everyone. Communication and attitudes improved dramatically. The improved communication and organization led to better decision making which led to sales growth and higher profits. But the most surprising impact was on Pat's home life. Due to the reduced stress at work, the relationships outside the office, particularly with the kids, were noticeably better. This situation was probably true for Pat's employees as well.
